Description

Deveron Cottage and the adjoining cottage to the east are a pair of cottages dating from the 17th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. They are constructed from coursed and squared stone blocks and feature a clay tile roof, with a brick ridge stack and a brick corner stack. Each cottage consists of two bays, forming a four-bay range, and they are two storeys high with irregular window placements, all of which are 20th-century casements and top-opening windows.

The left-hand cottage has a gabled glazed porch with a two-leaf door to the right, a ground floor window to the left, and first-floor windows to the right and to the left of centre, with the latter at a slightly lower level. Deveron Cottage, the right-hand cottage, has a glazed door to the left of centre, two windows in the middle, and two to the right at a slightly higher level, along with two first-floor windows to the left and one to the right of centre.

Inside Deveron Cottage, there are exposed ceiling beams and two upper cruck trusses. Despite the recent changes to the windows that are not in keeping with the original style, these cottages are valued for their roof structure and their contribution to the group value of the area.
