Description

The Former Cross Keys Hotel, now occupied by W S Bagshaw and Sons, Auctioneers, is a large 17th-century building located on the west side of High Street. It features three gables and has 18th-century windows, with significant restoration from the 19th century, particularly on the ground floor. The building is roughcast and consists of three storeys plus an attic. It has three sash windows topped with rusticated stone lintels and rusticated stone quoins. A moulded stone cornice and band is inscribed with "Edward Hadley 1697". The gables are capped with stone and each has three obelisk finials, with tiled roofs. There is a covered way on the left side of the building.
