Description

This is a chest tomb located approximately 4 yards south of the south porch of the Church of St. John Baptist in Mayfield. It dates from the late 17th century to the early 18th century and is made of stone with an oblong plan. The tomb features a hollow chamfered base and a heavy moulded capping with chamfered under edges. The sides and ends are panelled, and there is an inscription on the north side that is now illegible. The east end of the tomb has the initials A.H.
