Description
The dovecote located approximately 40 yards north-east of Loxley Hall dates from the 18th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a hipped slate roof. The structure has an octagonal plan and consists of three stages, with an ashlar band at the first floor and a moulded eaves cornice.
On the ground floor, there are casement windows on the north-east and north-west faces, along with doors on the south-east and south-west faces. A door on the south face leads to the first floor, accessed by a flight of steps that includes a dog kennel. The upper stage has casements on each face, and all door and window openings have segmental heads.
Inside, the ground floor features chamfered and stopped ceiling beams, as well as arched recesses on each wall. The upper floor contains a potence and a central octagonal post above a tie beam.
