Description

The Oaklands is a house dating from the 17th century, with later alterations and additions. It is timber-framed and rendered, with plain tile roofs, brick ridge stacks, and an integral end stack. The house has a T-shaped plan, with the main block aligned east-west and an east wing aligned north-south. To the left is a gabled two-storey and attic wing, slightly lower than the one--storey and-attic extension to the right. The left wing has roughly one and two bays, with casement windows. It features central ground-floor and second-floor windows, and first-floor windows to the left and right. The roof truss has two collars with queen struts above the lower collar. The extension range has two flat-roofed dormers and a central gabled porch. A lean-to conservatory is located to the right. The east elevation has two bays and two square panels between the bresummer and eaves, with curved tension braces.
