Description

TATENHILL C.P. RANGEMORE SK 12 SE 5/103 Fountain and 21.2.86 ornamental pool approximately 30m south of The Lawns GV II

Fountain and ornamental pool. Circa 1900. Stone. Roll-moulded kerb surrounds the pool, a square with apsidal ends to the centre of each face has a central fountain: putti in a broad bowl supported by a seated rodent on a rusticated 'island'. Forms part of a formal lands cape frontage to the Edward VII wing, presumably for the King's felicitation and forms part of extensive man-made grounds, part of The Lawns (q.v.), an Edwardian mansion built for the Bass family, Brewers of Burton-on-Trent.
