Description

Nos 87 and 89, High Street are a late 18th century refronting of a 17th century building, which itself incorporates a section of a late 16th century timber-framed structure, visible at the rear. The building is constructed of red brick and extends to three storeys, with four sash windows on the front, set within lined reveals and featuring moulded keyblocks and segmental heads. The eaves are of moulded plaster, and the roof is tiled. A modern shop front has been installed. A section of the rear wall is timber-framed, and a rear projecting wing, of two storeys, features a blocked three-light stone mullioned window on its north side. This section has red brick infilling and a fully-framed gabled end at the rear. Internally, the building has undergone considerable alteration, but some exposed ceiling beams remain, along with a large bricked-up ingle fireplace at the rear of the ground storey.
