Description
Chetwynd Knoll is an early 19th-century Regency house located on Edgmond Road in Chetwynd, Newport. The building is stuccoed and features a low-pitched hipped slate roof with overhanging eaves supported by paired brackets. It stands two storeys tall and has three bays, with the central bay slightly advanced and topped with a pediment. The windows are sashes with glazing bars set within moulded architraves, and the ground-floor windows are adorned with tent-shaped zinc canopies.
The central doorway consists of panelled double doors framed by a moulded surround and narrow sidelights. A porch with slender cast-iron columns and a tent-shaped zinc roof enhances the entrance. On the west side of the house, there is a canted bay window.
Inside, the house features a contemporary plain staircase in the hall, along with an archway. Original door architraves, doors, plasterwork, and chimney-pieces are preserved throughout the interior.
