Description
The Shiel is a building located on Church Road in Lilleshall. It consists of two parts: No. 2, a 16th-century timber-framed cottage, and The Shiel, which is an 18th-century stone rubble structure.
No. 2 features rendering infill panels, a steeply pitched machine-tile roof with gabled ends, and is one storey high with an attic. It has a one-window range with modern casements, a dormer at eaves level with a catslide roof, and a modern wing at the rear. Inside, there is a stepped chamfer ceiling beam and a timber-framed smoke hood.
The Shiel, which adjoins to the north, is a painted stone rubble range that was originally said to be an outhouse. It has an asbestos tile roof with gabled ends, is also one storey high with an attic, and has a two-window range with small casements. It features two flat-roofed dormers, one of which has an old metal frame casement with leaded panes, as well as brick ridge and end stacks.
