Description

No. 1, Market Square is a late 18th-century building that has undergone later alterations. It is constructed of stucco and stands three storeys tall, featuring two sash windows. The first floor is adorned with a dentilled cornice. The ground storey showcases an attractive late 19th-century bank front, characterized by bands of rustication and windows with rectangular fanlights, all set within moulded surrounds and separated by a continuous cornice. The central doorway is framed by a moulded architrave and features a 10-fielded-panelled divided door. The building has restored wooden eaves and a hipped modern tile roof.
