Description

No. 5 Lower Bar is an early 19th-century building located on the west side of Lower Bar. It is constructed of painted brick and has two storeys. The front features three sash windows with plain lintels, corbelled brick eaves, and is topped with old tiles. There is a late 19th-century shop front that includes an original bow shop window, which has a cornice topped by a grocer's sign shaped like a large metal tea canister from the 19th century. At the rear, there is a two-storey red brick wing that contains one three-light casement window and two sash windows without glazing bars below.
