Description
Beaumaris House is a mid-18th century building located on the west side of High Street. It is constructed of red brick and has three storeys, featuring five sash windows that have moulded keyblocks, shallow segmental heads, and sill aprons. The central windows are highlighted by moulded stucco dog-eared architraves. The building has a moulded stuccoed plinth and a moulded stuccoed pilaster doorcase, which includes a plain fanlight, a pediment, and a six-panelled door. There is a small iron-railed perron with stone steps leading up from either side. The sides of the building are adorned with giant pilasters that have upper pedestals and moulded caps. Inside, there is a coved plaster cornice and a panelled parapet that features a painted stone or stucco tablet inscribed with the date 1724 and the initials ITI. On the right-hand side, there is a two-storeyed, one-window bay that has a doorway with a plain fanlight and a six-panelled door. Although the interior has been much altered, it retains a plain early 19th-century staircase.
