Description

Sunnyside Cottage and West View Cottage are a pair of cottages dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. The cottages are timber-framed with square panels and some arched bracing, featuring a queen strut roof. The framing is partly infilled with brick, and the roof is covered in plain tiles with scalloped bands. The cottages are one-and-a-half storeys high, originally three bays wide, with a further bay added to the right in the 19th century. They have outer doorways and three casement windows on the front, with three dormers above, each with a finial. A roughly arched timber lintel features above the left-hand doorway. At the rear, West View Cottage has attached outbuildings, including a former bakehouse with a chimney stack, while Sunnyside Cottage has an attached lean-to. The early 19th-century alterations reflect the style of the Sutherland Estate.
