Description
The Church of St Thomas the Apostle is a parish church located on Manor Court Street in Penkhull, Stoke on Trent. It was built in 1842 by the architect George Gilbert Scott and has undergone later alterations. The church is constructed from coursed and squared sandstone rubble and features plain tiled roofs. It includes a west tower with a spire, a nave with added lean-to aisles and transepts, and a chancel. The tower is three stages high and has a broach spire with lucarnes. The aisles were added in 1892, featuring windows grouped as three ogival arches. Dormers that light the nave were presumably added at the same time. The transepts have paired lancet lights, and the east window is a three-light Decorated style.
