Description

Hendre is an early 17th-century farmhouse with later additions and alterations. The house is timber framed with rendered and painted brick infill, set on a high painted brick plinth. A brick addition is present to the right, and the roof is corrugated iron. Originally, it appears to have been a two-cell house of end baffle-entry type, extended in the 18th or 19th century to create a three-unit baffle-entry plan. The house is one storey and has an attic. The timber framing is visible as square panels, above the plinth both at the front and rear. 20th-century casement windows are located to the far left and right, and a three-light 19th-century casement window sits to the left of the 20th-century panelled front door, which is accessed via a wide, gabled 20th-century porch on the right side of the centre. A red brick ridge stack is directly above the porch, with an external end stack to the right. A 19th-century red brick lean-to extends to the rear on the left side. The interior was not inspected during a resurvey in November 1986, but is likely to be of interest.
