Description

Dated 1793 on the rainwater head, 17 Church Street is a detached house. Built in the late 18th century, it is constructed of brick and stands three storeys high. The house has three bays, with the central bay slightly projecting. It features three sash windows on each floor, each with plain keyblocks and lintels. The front door is set within a moulded wooden doorcase, which has panelled reveals and a radial fanlight, flanked by a three-light window on each side. The rainwater head bears the initials "F.L." and the date 1795. A moulded wooden eaves cornice runs around the house, continuing into a central pediment. The interior retains original features including a staircase, door surrounds, decorative plasterwork cornices, and a niche in the drawing room.
