Description
This is a barn and cowhouse located to the north-west of Squire Farmhouse. The buildings form a long range of farm structures, featuring a 17th-century weather-boarded timber-framed barn on the south-east side and a cowhouse built of coursed limestone rubble, likely from the mid-19th century, on the north-west side. The roof is made of corrugated iron. The barn consists of three framed bays and is one storey high with a loft. The framing includes square panels, with two panels extending up to the wall plate.
On the south-west front, the barn has two boarded doors on the left and a boarded loft door on the right. The cowhouse features two boarded doors and a boarded loft door in the left-hand gable end. Inside the barn, the roof is supported by two pairs of purlins and features tie-beam trusses with raking queen struts. The bay dimensions include high plinths, sole plates, and long tension braces, with haylofts located in the outer bays. Note that Squire Farmhouse is not included in this listing.
