Description

No. 31 Church Street is an early 19th-century cottage exhibiting Gothic detailing. The building is constructed of red brick and extends to two storeys. It features pointed arched windows with keyblocks, now fitted with modern frames, and a later half-glazed door sheltered by a rustic weather hood supported on ornamental brackets. The roof is tiled and hipped, topped with a ball finial and wind vane. A tall brick stack is also present. Built by John Wilkinson, the cottage incorporates a roof structure of cast iron and was originally intended for use as an office.
