Description
Sutton Court is an early 19th-century house, built on an earlier core. The exterior is faced with dressed coursed sandstone, with a Welsh slate roof, brick ridge and buttress stacks, and a stepped rubble external stack with a brick chimney to the left returned side. The building is arranged in an E-shape, with lateral and rear wings. The front facade has three storeys and a three-window range, featuring 6/6 sash windows under stone flat arches, and 3/3 sashes above. Central is a panelled door beneath a 4-centred arch, flanked by 6/6 sash windows. The advanced wings have tripartite 2/2: 6/6: 2/2 sashes to the ground floor, with blind openings above. The right gable has fixed lights, and the left gable has an 8/9 sash, with an 8/8 sash and a band to the gable-head. The left returned side and wing to the rear have various 19th-century windows and casements under brick segmental arches. The right returned side features a 3-storey bay window with 4/4: 8/8: 4/4 sashes. Various 6/6, 3/6, and 3/3 sashes are also present, along with a part-glazed door. The wing to the rear has a hipped plain tile roof, a colonnade with Ionic columns, sashes, and French windows with a fanlight. The interior was not inspected.
