Description
This is a cottage located in Bedstone, dating from the mid-17th century, with later additions and alterations. It features a timber frame that is rendered at the front and sits on a rubblestone plinth, topped with a machine tile roof. The cottage is one storey with an attic and consists of three framed bays. The front has 20th-century windows, including an early 20th-century French window on the right and a late 20th-century Gothic-style French window that projects slightly to the left, serving as the entrance. There are three gabled eaves dormers from the 20th century. The left side has an internal brown brick end stack, while the right side has an external rubblestone end stack with a brown brick shaft. The framing is exposed on the back wall, showcasing square panels that extend from the cill to the wall-plate. To the right of the center, there is a late 19th-century gabled open timber porch over a four-panel door, with the top panels now glazed. To the left, there is a lower rubblestone addition, likely from the 18th century, which is timber framed directly below the eaves at the rear, along with a single-storey rubblestone range that projects at right angles to the front. The interior has not been inspected but is expected to be of interest.
