Description
The gate piers, gates, and railings located immediately to the south of Bedstone Court Lodge were constructed around 1881 by Thomas Harris for Sir Henry Ripley. The gates and railings are made of painted cast iron, while the walls are built from red brick with ashlar dressings. The gate piers are square in shape, featuring flush angle quoins, moulded plinths, and capping, topped with flat-topped finials. The railings are elaborately decorated and sit on low, curving brick walls that lead to inner gate piers. These inner piers consist of intricately designed iron cages topped with miniature gilded ball finials, and the gates share a similar decorative style. This structure is included for its group value.
