Description

The Boer War Memorial stands on St Chad's Terrace in Shrewsbury, dating to around 1902. Designed by Caffin of Regent Street, it is constructed of stone. The memorial depicts a soldier leaning on a rifle, raised on a chamfered plinth set upon a stepped base. The plinth bears the dates 1899-1902, commemorating the South African Wars, alongside the names of the war dead and a low relief bust of Queen Victoria. A cast-iron railing surrounds the memorial.
