Description
Nos. 7, 8, and 9 Pride Hill is a purpose-built shop constructed in 1907, with an extension added in 1920 and now rebuilt behind the shopfront. The building features a mock timber design with a plain tiled roof. It stands three storeys tall with an attic, divided into three gabled bays by brick pilasters, arranged in a 2-1 configuration. The shop front is recessed, with the upper storeys supported by panelled piers. An egg-and-dart cornice runs above the ground floor. The upper storeys display mock close studding, with rails and ogival arched braces. There are three canted bays featuring Shaw windows adorned with lozenges of stained glass in a Renaissance style on the first floor. The building is dated in plaster panels above the windows, indicating the years 1907 and 1920. Below the windows, there are plaster panels displaying coats of arms, including the Royal and Salop arms. The gables overhang above this storey, supported by massive brackets. The upper levels have plain wood mullioned windows, while the gables contain casement windows. A stack is located to the left.
