Description

The rockery in English Bridge Garden is a structure likely assembled in the late 19th century using fragments from the early 19th century or earlier. Made of stone, it is built against a slope and features fragments of sculpture in the antique style. The centerpiece is a figure of Justice, flanked by fasces, ears of wheat, a cornucopia, and the Salop arms. The upper level of the rockery includes a large sculpted head and a medallion. Historically, the nearby house of John Carline, a sculptor, suggests that these fragments may have been assembled or carved by him in the early 19th century.
