Description

Sabrina Fountain is a memorial fountain built in 1881, made of polished grey and pink granite and bronze. It features an octagonal base with a round fountain bowl on top, and a large pedestal supported by columns at each corner. The pedestal has a cornice and is adorned with bronze shields, a portrait bust, and lion masks. At the corners of the pedestal, there are four bronze dolphins surrounding a smaller pedestal, which is topped by a large bronze figure of Sabrina, draped and sculpted by J.M. Griffiths. The fountain is dedicated to Henry Whitmore, who was the Member of Parliament for Bridgnorth from 1852 to 1870. It was originally located in West Castle Street before being moved to its current position in the Castle Grounds.
