Description
The former lodge at the entrance to Belle Vue is a disused building dating from the early 19th century, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of red brick and features a pyramidal plain tile roof with deep eaves and a central brick chimney. The lodge has a square plan and stands two storeys tall, adorned with a dentilled eaves cornice.
On the southeast side, there is a central six-panel door set in an ornamental wooden doorcase, which includes blind Gothic tracery above the overlight. This door is flanked by square boarded-over windows that have plain brick labels. To the upper left, there is a blind roundel with painted tracery in the shape of a Maltese cross, while the upper right has an inserted boarded-over window. The left return also features a roundel with painted Maltese-cross tracery to the upper left, along with a blind rectangular opening below that has painted two-light Gothic tracery. There is a similar boarded-over window to the right, with an inserted boarded-over window above it. At the rear, there is a mid-19th century single-storey lean-to. Belle Vue itself is not included in this listing.
