Description

Bentley Ford Farmhouse is a mid-17th century farmhouse with 19th century alterations and refronting. It features a timber frame on a painted brick base, with parts rebuilt in 18th and 19th century painted brick. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has catslides over the outshuts at the rear. The building has a baffle-entry plan with four framed bays aligned northwest to southeast and a projecting staircase wing at the rear. It is one storey and attic high, with a semi-basement on the left side. The front has three 19th century full dormers with two-light 20th century casements, a central brick ridge stack, an external brick end stack on the right, and a brick lateral stack at the rear to the northwest. The rear framing is exposed, showing square panels from the sole-plate to the wall-plate. The front has three windows with 19th century two-light wooden casements. There is a 19th century gabled brick porch between the first and second windows from the left, featuring a five-panelled door with a radial fanlight and chamfered reveals, along with a boarded door to the left. A 20th century flat-roofed conservatory is located in front to the left, with a pair of half-glazed doors. Inside, the farmhouse has single and paired chamfered spine beams, a large open fireplace with a depressed brick arch and a salt cupboard, and 17th century boarded doors with wrought iron strap hinges.
