Description

The gazebo and adjoining garden wall, located approximately 60 metres to the north-west of Grinshill Hall, date from the mid-18th century, with possible alterations from the early to mid-19th century. The gazebo is constructed of red brick with grey sandstone dressings and features deep overhanging eaves on a hipped plain tile roof, showcasing a Gothick style. It stands two storeys tall, with one first-floor arched two-light wooden casement window with Y-tracery on each front, except for a first-floor boarded door on the east side, which is accessed by an external L-plan flight of 12 sandstone and brick steps. On the ground floor, there are a pair of small round-arched two-light windows with Y-tracery flanking a central four-centred arched half-glazed panelled door, also with Y-tracery. The door and its surrounding features may have been altered in the mid to late 19th century. The adjoining garden wall to the west is made of red brick with a sandstone base and coping, is L-shaped, approximately 65 metres long, and stands about 2 metres high, ramping down the slope to the south. A mid-19th century garden wall to the east, which has a straight joint, is not included in this listing.
