Description

The Black Lion Hotel is an early 19th-century building located on Scotland Street. It is constructed of stucco and stands three storeys high, with the ground floor featuring a rusticated finish. The façade includes five sash windows, with the second-storey windows adorned with cornice hoods supported by giant consoles, and a central window that is highlighted. There is a canted oriel window at the centre, topped with an embattled parapet, and an altered doorway. The first floor is finished with a dentilled cornice, while a three-windowed wing on the left has a modern shop front and a passageway. The eaves are decorated with modillions, and the roof is covered with slates. The interior of the hotel remains largely unaltered.
