Description

The Durant Headstone, located approximately 3 metres north of the chancel of the Church of St Bartholomew, is an early 19th-century headstone made of sandstone. It features a large Maltese cross and is inscribed with the initials G.D/h.m.c. and the year 1823. The specific Durant to whom this headstone refers is unclear, as George Durant the elder passed away in 1780 and the younger in 1844.
