Description

A pair of cottages, dating from the late 18th century, are located on the east side of Vicarage Road in Meole Brace, Shrewsbury. The cottages are constructed of brick with a plain tiled roof. They are low, two stories high, and have a five-window front, with a blind window in the centre. Originally, each cottage likely had a single-unit plan, although these plans have been altered over time. The left-hand cottage features a two-light casement window with a single ring cambered head to the left of the doorway, and two two-light casement windows above. The right-hand cottage shows an inserted horizontally sliding sash window that cuts through the segmental head of an earlier opening. A single-storey wing has been added to the gable return of the right-hand cottage, providing access. Gable end stacks are present.
