Description
Kilsall Hall is a house with origins dating back to the 15th or 16th century, which was remodeled around 1740 and has late 19th century additions and alterations. It features a pebbledash exterior on a stone plinth and a plain tiled roof. The building is two storeys high with an attic in the central projecting gable and consists of five bays. The ground floor has glazing bar sash windows with frames that are flush to the wall surface, while the gabled dormers feature late 19th century sashes. The central entrance has a 19th century door flanked by a plain 18th century doorcase, and there is one brick ridge stack along with two end stacks. The rear of the house includes late 19th century additions. Inside, the ground floor showcases late 15th or early 16th century square oak panelling in the hall and the right-hand front rooms, along with an 18th century decorative plasterwork frieze in the left-hand front room. The first floor rooms are notable for their barrel-shaped ceilings that extend into the roof space. Historically, the house served as an inn on the Wolverhampton to Newport road.
