Description

This is a milepost located approximately 200 metres south of Bridge Number 67 on the Shropshire Union Canal, dating from around 1830. It is made of cast iron and features a short cylindrical shape with a round top. The front has curved rectangular plates, with two plates at the top and one at the bottom. The milepost has superscribed serif lettering that reads: 'AUTHERLEY. / JUNCTION. / 29, MILES' on the left side, 'NANTWICH / 10, MILES.' on the right side, and 'NORBURY. / JUNCTION. / 13½, MILES.' at the bottom.
