Description
Church Farmhouse is a late 18th or early 19th century farmhouse constructed of red brick with a hipped tile roof. The house has three storeys over a basement. It features a plinth on the south side, a dentil brick eaves cornice, and a central three-bay open triangular-pedimented gable with grey sandstone dressings at the base and a dentil brick verge. There are three brick ridge stacks, two to the front and one to the rear. The front elevation has a 1:3:1 bay arrangement with two-light wooden casement windows; these have gauged-brick heads and what are likely late 19th century chamfered-brick cills. Some ground-floor and second-floor windows are painted to resemble brickwork, although much of the facade was obscured by climbing plants in July 1986. A central boarded door has an overlight or fanlight above it. The return front to the right has three bays with a 3:2:3-light arrangement of wooden casement windows, with many painted to resemble brickwork. A single-storey lean-to has been added to the rear. The interior was not inspected.
