Description

The Bennion/Lewis memorial is a chest tomb located at the east end of the vestry of the Church of St. Oswald, dating from around 1777. It is made of sandstone, which was formerly painted. The tomb has a rectangular shape, featuring a moulded plinth and capping with square corner balusters. The inscription on the top ledger commemorates John Lewis, who died in 1777, while an inscription on the east side honors Thomas Bennion, who died in 1834.
