13/54 Milestone approx. 90 - metres to west of Butlane Head

Milestone. Probably mid- to late C19. Painted cast iron. Triangular section with sides curving back to narrower stem, chamfered top, and beaded edges superscribed in serif lettering; on top: "FORD PARISH", left-hand side: "POOL/14 MILES" and right-hand side: "SALOP/5 MILES". The Shrewsbury- Welshpool road was turnpiked in 1758. Butland Head is not included on this list. V.C.H., Vol. VIII, p.225.
