Description

The stone revetment wall surrounding Moat Farm is likely from the 14th or 15th century, with later repairs. It is constructed of dressed sandstone blocks, with some areas repaired using uncoursed rubble and red brick. The wall stands approximately 3 to 4.5 meters high and encloses an area of about 80 meters square. The south-west corner of the wall serves as the sandstone plinth for Moat Farmhouse, and the gap on the west side likely marks the location of a demolished gatehouse. A partly infilled moat encircles the farm.
