Description
Granary and pigsty located 90 metres north of Acton Scott Hall, built in the 19th century. The granary is constructed from stone rubble, while the pigsty is made of brick and rubble. Both structures feature plain-tile roofs with brick dentil course eaves. The layout consists of an L-shaped plan with a single-storey and loft main granary range, alongside a single-storey pigsty range.
On the exterior, the granary has a gable front with a plain loft doorway that is accessed by rubble stone steps. There are timber doorways in brick segmental arched openings on either side of the steps at ground level. The south side of the granary has three doorways with restored boarded double doors. The north side is partly obscured by projecting pigsties that contain three brick pig enclosures at the front. There is also a brick blacksmith's furnace and chimney from around 1980 located at the rear.
Inside, the granary features a three-bay purlin roof supported by two trusses. This building is included for its group value.
