Description
Middle Heath Lodge is an estate lodge built around 1850, likely designed by Sir Jeffry Wyatville in a Tudor Gothic style, with some alterations made in the late 20th century. The lodge is constructed from hammer-dressed sandstone ashlar, featuring plastic patching and a dark plain tile roof. It has a T-plan layout with a porch on the south side that creates an irregular cross shape.
The building includes a plinth, plain bargeboards with shaped finials, and a late 20th-century gabled dormer that is off-centre to the right on the south front. There is a central ridge stack, and the lodge stands at one and a half storeys.
On the south front, there are two ground floor stone mullioned and transomed windows set in chamfered reveals. The window to the right is in a projecting square bay with a cornice. To the left, there is a six-panelled door, also set off-centre, with chamfered reveals. The gabled porch features a four-centred chamfered archway, fake voussoirs, and single lancets on the sides, with a carved lion above the entrance. The gable ends have ground floor cross windows and two-light mullioned attic windows. There is a wing at the rear with raised eaves.
