Description
Manor Farmhouse, now divided, dates from 1710. It is a red brick building with a plain tile roof. The front has two storeys, while the rear has three. Features include a plat band, a painted moulded wooden dentil eaves cornice, stone coped gables with straight parapets to the central valley, external brick end stacks, and three 20th-century roof-lights. The front has five bays, mainly featuring early 18th-century flush-framed sash windows with gauged heads. Two late 18th-century sash windows with 20th-century brick cills are on the ground floor to the left. A three-section stone staircase leads to a central door with six flush panels and a two-part overlight, set within a moulded architrave and flat hood. The lintel above the first-floor window is inscribed "M.EDG. & MARY/MADDOX.1710". A single-storey lean-to on the right has a two-light casement to the right and a door with six flush panels to the left. A two-storey service wing is set back to the right and has an external end stack. The left-hand return front and rear have floor bands. The interior includes a circa 1710 dog-leg staircase with an open string, turned balusters, a turned bottom newel post, paired balusters as a half-landing, landing newels, and a moulded handrail. Early 18th-century fireplace surrounds are also present. A ground-floor room at the rear contains a corner fireplace with a moulded cornice.
