Description

Hay Bridge is a road bridge that spans Mill Brook and was built in the late 18th century. It is constructed of stone and brick, featuring a brick arch with a span of 6.5 meters supported by stone abutments. The spandrels are made of coursed rubble, and there is an ashlar string course, although the central section has been renewed in concrete. The bridge has 20th-century coursed stone parapets. The approach to the bridge includes splayed retaining walls that end with piers, and on the north-west side, there is an original coursed rubble parapet with plain ashlar coping.
