Description

A farmhouse and adjoining cow house, likely dating from the late 18th century. The farmhouse is constructed of painted, coursed limestone rubble with a slate roof, and has a two-room plan running north to south. It has two bays visible from the front, with mid-to-late 19th century two-light wooden casement windows and a central boarded door. An integral brick end stack is on the left, and a bread oven projects from the left-hand gable end. A lower former cow shed is attached to the right, now incorporated into the house. To the right of that is a lower cow shed with coursed limestone rubble and a tiled roof, featuring three boarded doors on the front; the second door from the left has a corresponding door at the rear. Inside the farmhouse, there are chamfered beams and a large open fireplace. The cow shed has stalls, mangers, cobbled floors, and reused cruck roof trusses. The cow house is a three-door design, allowing animals to face each other with a central passage for feeding and outer doors for removing muck. It represents a typical hillside farmhouse style commonly associated with Welsh architecture.
