Description
This is a terrace of four houses built around 1790 on a shallow curve, and now used as offices. The terrace, located on the south side of the town walls in Shrewsbury, is attributed to Joseph Bromfield, a local plasterer and architect. The houses are constructed of brick and have low-pitched Welsh slate roofs. Each house is three storeys high with a basement, and has a two-window facade. Each unit has a doorway on the left side, featuring a recessed architrave and a six-panelled door with an ornamental traceried fanlight. The ground-floor windows are slightly recessed, with fanlights that echo the design of the doorways in the plasterwork above. Upper-floor windows are twelve-pane sashes with flat-arched brick heads. A parapet eaves cornice runs along the top of the building, and there are end wall stacks. Cast-iron railings are located in front of the basement area. The rear elevation has a stone eaves parapet and four advanced central bays with brick pilasters. Number 25 in the terrace was separately listed on May 30, 1969.
