Description
This is a disused cottage, which was later used as a cowhouse, located approximately 50 meters north of the Pentre Farmhouse. It dates from the mid- to late 18th century and has undergone some repairs and alterations over time. The structure is built from roughly coursed limestone blocks, with some mid-19th century purplish brown brick patching, and features a graded slate roof, although the rear is covered with corrugated iron.
The cottage has a two-cell plan and is one storey high with an attic. It has 20th-century stable doors on the left and a blocked doorway in the center, flanked by 20th-century openings. There are raking eaves dormers on both the left and right sides, and a prominent external stepped end stack on the left, which has been rebuilt in brick.
Inside, there is a stone cross-wall and stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops on the ground floor. The fireplace has been blocked, and 20th-century cowstalls have been inserted. The roof is a double-purlin type. This building is included for its group value.
