Description
No. 14 on St Mary's Street is a Grade II* listed building in Shrewsbury, originally built as a dwelling, likely in the late 15th century, with later alterations. The structure is timber-framed, featuring plastered mock framing on the exterior and a plain tiled roof. It has two storeys and a two-window range, with a doorway on the right and a square bay window with a hipped tiled roof and leaded lights on the left. Above the bay window, there is a three-light casement, and to the left, a two-light casement. Inside, the building displays exposed framing in the side wall, including a cambered tie beam with curved angle struts, which are visible at a low level, indicating that the floor may have been raised at some point. This building is likely a remnant of a late medieval hall-house.
