Description
The North Barn at Wollerton Farm is a threshing barn, now used as a store, dating from the early 18th century with alterations made in the late 19th century. It features timber framing, with the gables rebuilt in brick, and is clad in weatherboard and corrugated iron. The roof is covered with plain tiles, and there is a 19th-century brick plinth. The barn consists of three bays.
On the west front, there is an off-centre opening that was originally fitted with double doors but was blocked in the late 19th century; it now contains a stable door to the left. To the right, there is a close-boarded door with a loft door above it, and further right, a stable door. The north gable has single-storey wooden lean-to additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. The south gable features a blocked door to the left and a central loft door above.
Inside, the barn has widely spaced studs, some of which have down-braces. The roof structure consists of a single purlin with struts to the trusses and straight wind braces. The interior also includes a 19th-century floor, partitions, and a hayrack.
