Description
The garden walls adjoining Plaish Hall to the southeast are likely from the late 16th century. They are constructed of coursed sandstone rubble with a red brick top featuring vitrified blue diapering and stone coping that ramps down to the sides. The walls are arranged in a U-shape, creating a courtyard in front of the house and extending approximately 70 meters in length. There is a moulded stone Tudor archway in the southeast wall that is aligned with the house, featuring a wrought iron gate. Additionally, there is another moulded stone Tudor archway in the right-hand return wall next to the house, which has a boarded gate. These garden walls are an important part of the formal design of the southeast front of Plaish Hall.
