Description
Musbatch Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 16th century or possibly earlier, with extensions from the 17th and 19th centuries. It features a timber frame with long curved tension-braces set on a stone rubble plinth, white-painted brick infill, and a right return side made of limestone. The part of the rear elevation and extension is made of brick, and it has a plain tile gable-ended roof with brick stacks at the gable end and rear. The building is one storey with an attic and consists of three timber-framed bays, along with a 19th-century brick l-bay extension that is slightly set back on the left. The entrance has a 20th-century glazed door, and the ground floor includes small one and two-light casements with glazing bars, as well as two small gabled dormers above the eaves. The left brick extension has a plank door and a window with cambered arches, along with a gabled dormer above; the two-light casements in this section have horizontal glazing bars. At the rear, there is a former cowshed that has been partly incorporated into the house; it is partly timber-framed but largely rebuilt in 19th and 20th-century brick. Inside, the farmhouse features exposed framing, chamfered beams, and a large chimney stack. There is a cranked-headed doorway with pintles on the jamb, and exposed wind-braces can be seen in the attics, which also contain queen-post roof trusses.
