Description

No 1 on East Castle Street is a building from the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of painted brick and features a tiled roof. The building has two storeys and includes seven sash windows with cambered heads; the lower windows have channelled lintels and keyblocks. The entrance is highlighted by a moulded wood pilaster doorcase, topped with a cornice hood and a rectangular fanlight. This building is included for its group value, as it forms part of a group with Nos 1 to 5 (consecutive) and the Shakespeare Hotel on West Castle Street.
