Description
The Governor's House, located at No. 18 East Castle Street in Bridgnorth, dates from around 1630. This building is constructed of red brick and features two storeys with attics. It has two eight-light plastered mullioned transomed windows set in brick surrounds, along with a central window of six lights, all adorned with brick hood moulds. A prominent two-storeyed porch projects from the centre, topped with a gabled attic and a stone pointed arch. The house has large gables on each side, all featuring moulded brick copings, and is complemented by clustered brick stacks. The roof is covered with old tiles. Historically, there was a 17th-century gazebo in the garden at the rear. The Governor's House is part of a group with Nos 18 to 33, which are listed together for their architectural significance.
